it assessment

Our IT Assessment will thoroughly evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your IT infrastructure, and will examine all key aspects of IT in your organization. This assessment is a great way to gain insight into how your IT is functioning and how it can help you achieve your goals. We will assess your:

  • IT strategy

  • Planning systems

  • Application environment

  • Technical infrastructure

  • Overall IT investment

IT managers have expressed that IT planning and visioning are the most crucial activities NOT being done in business today. The opportunity should be taken to have these assessments performed and realize the full potential of your technology.

Our Security Assessment will evaluate the level of security offered by your network regarding internal and external access to its information and the level of physical security protecting it. The areas that will be covered include the roles and responsibilities of IT staff; personnel security and training; physical security, business resumption plans and backup strategy; patches and upgrades; anti-virus; server security; e-mail security; and network vulnerability.

Corporate information kept on a network system must remain private and secured against deliberate attempts to illegally access or damage it. Networks with non-existent or relaxed security are easy targets for malicious individuals, disgruntled employees, or even unscrupulous business competitors. In addition, insufficient network security greatly increases the risks and the severity of damage inflicted to systems by computer viruses or computer worms during outbreaks.

The following components are reviewed at a high level:

  • Physical Network layout and architecture;

  • Workstations, Operating Systems and applications;

  • Servers and services offered on the network;

  • Corporate Applications;

  • Data cabling;

  • and Network printing (as well as local printing).

We will also study your IT infrastructure management practices, including:

  • Workstations management;

  • Data Backups;

  • Computer virus protection;

  • Basic disaster recovery plan;

  • Physical and network infrastructure security;

  • Physical accommodations (power, climate control, fire prevention),

  • and General IT strategic guidelines and principles to be applied to IT equipment, software and service procurement.

All of the information that we will collect will be summarized in a report and presented to management. Global Edge will then be involved in implementing the changes and providing support and advice. When taking into account what is at stake and what the risks are of not assessing your IT infrastructure, it is well worth the investment! Assessing your IT infrastructure is one of the most important first steps in ensuring that you use your technology wisely, safely, and to its fullest potential. We look forward to the positive response!
